Altaghyeer: Khartoum
The fourth edition of the child film festival was launched in the Sudanese capital Khartoum as hundreds of families and those interested in cinema attended the event which took place in the Friendship hall’s theatre.
A youth initiative, in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), made the tradition of training children on film-making techniques including acting, shooting and directing.
The initiative’s founder Musa’ab Hassona told “Altaghyeer” that this year’s edition had the advantage of screening films produced by children from North Darfur and refugee camps in eastern Sudan. And he added “this year we enhanced the execution of ideas brought around by the children as we managed to organize prolonged workshops at the youths and children’s palace”.
On the final night 14 films produced by children were screened covering a wide range of issues, including school drop-out, harmful traditional practices, teaching methods and other topics.
