Martyrs Families: Government Ignored Request to Commemorate “Sit-in Dispersal”
The December Revolution Martyrs’ Families Organization said that it asked all relevant authorities to allow them to commemorate a commemoration for the dispersal of the sit-in at the General Command Square, but they did not receive a response from it.
Khartoum: Altaghyeer
The December Revolution Martyrs Families Organization revealed that the Sudanese authorities have ignored their request to commemorate, and organize a Ramadan fast-break forthe second anniversary of the dispersal of the General Command sit-in on the twenty-ninth of the current month of Ramadan.
On the third of June 2019, which falls on the third of Ramadan in the Hijri calendar, military forces broke up the peaceful sit-in demonstration at the General Command HQ using live bullets.
Dozens of people were killed, wounded and are missing, as a result of this operation, in addition to the many violations including many cases of rape.
The families of the martyrs of the Sudanese revolution uphold the right of retribution for their children, regardless of the costs of pursuing this goal.
Constitutional Right
The deputy head of the Martyrs’ Families Organization, Amirah Babiker Kaboos, called on the Sudanese people and the revolutionaries to break their fast on the 29th of Ramadan at the sit-in square in front of the HQ.
Kaboos read a statement at the Sudan News Agency’s conference room on Thursday, in which she demanded both civil and military components of the transitional government to protect the Iftar gatherin, considering it a constitutional and legitimate right.
Amirah revealed that the organization submitted to all competent authorities their requests to be allowed to exercise this right, but failed to receive a response.
She also confirmed that they reserve their right to respond to the rejection of their requests to break the fast or to close the roads leading to the driving.
And that all options remain open to them if the authorities take these measures.
Course of Justice
The organization’s vice president explained that their efforts are to achieve justice for the martyrs through two tracks, internally through judicial institutions.
Internationally, this would be done by submitting their case files to the International Criminal Court, considering what had happened at the sit-in demonstration violates human rights.
As evidenced by the burning of corpses and throwing them in the river with stone bearings to weigh them down, in addition to rape acts against both sexes.
The Martyrs’ Families Organization accused the government of deviating from its revolutionary direction and instead adhering to popular opinion, after more than two years passed since the revolution.
This was evidenced by the absence of the Democratic Court, the establishment of the Legislative Council.
The organization’s statement also called for restructuring the security services, addressing economic issues, relieving the suffering of the citizens, and providing the necessary goods.
The organization announced that it has an important statement that will be read to the public at the Iftar Square on the 29th of Ramadan.
The contents of said statement have not been disclosed.
