Hamdok: Courts Examining a Number of Martyrs’ Cases
The Sudanese Prime Minister stated that his office does not interfere in the work of the justice system out of respect for the principle of separation of powers
The Sudanese Prime Minister, Abdallah Hamdok, said on Tuesday that his country’s courts are examining a number of martyrs’ cases.

Hamdok confirmed that the committee investigating the sit-in dispersal is working to finish its work and submit its report, pointing out that, in addition to examining a number of martyrs’ cases, the prosecution also carries files of other cases.
“We are following this without interfering in the work of the justice system, respecting the slogans of the revolution and the principle of separation of powers”, he said.
“We hope to finish it soon to work to achieve the rest of the revolution’s goals”, the Prime Mnister added.
Hamdok said in a statement, Tuesday, on the occasion of the sit-in dispersal’s second anniversary, that the revolution has offered dozens of martyrs.
“Today we have a painful memory”, he pointed out.
“The memory of the martyrs of the massacre at the General Command sit-in and the state sit-ins, on the day the peaceful sit-ins were dispersed with extreme brutality”.
The Prime Minister referred to the sons and daughters of the Sudanese people who, in their peaceful movement, chanted their eternal slogan: “Freedom, Peace, and Justice.
Democratic Values
Hamdok called for the spreading of the values of freedom and democracy, and the pursuit of peace in all parts of the country.
“As a matter of priority, as we seek to achieve justice, we seek to uncover the facts and find out the perpetrators of the killing of our sons and daughters, the martyrs of the revolution, and bring them to a fair judiciary”, he said.
Hamdok stressed that there are no short cuts and no magic solutions when it comes to establishing democratic states.
Rather, it is a comprehensive battle that requires patience, a solid political will, and a popular rally that is loyal to the values of democracy and justice.
