Sudan: Publication under the protection of witnesses, whistleblowers, victims, experts issued
The competent authorities in Sudan issued a circular on the protection of whistleblowers, victims, witnesses and experts in investigations related to criminal cases of a dangerous nature and offering them psychological support.

The Attorney General in Sudan, Mubarak Mahmoud, issued a circular on the protection of whistleblowers, victims, witnesses and experts for the year 2021.
On Tuesday, the meeting was held at the Public Prosecution in which the circular ordained, in addition to protecting witnesses, providing them with psychological support.
The circular called on all prosecutors to protect whistleblowers, victims, witnesses, and experts in investigations related to criminal cases of a dangerous nature or have influential public official accused in them.
It further called on taking the appropriate measures to conceal information related to their identity and whereabouts, and encode them with pseudonyms, numbers or code letters.
Representatives of the concerned committees and bodies handed a memorandum to the Mahmoud regarding this case, to which he responded, acknowledging the importance of the request.
The publication called for moving witnesses to other than the Public Prosecution and police buildings, to give their testimony, and to provide them with protection in their places of residence or work.
The publication included the assistance of a psychiatrist or a social researcher when taking the statements of whistleblowers, witnesses and victims, while not allowing them to be photographed.
Criminal measures against those who expose, assault, or abuse any of the whistleblowers, victims, witnesses and experts were also recommended.
A statement by the signatory resistance committees that met with the Attorney General on Tuesday praised the efforts made.
“We congratulate our people for making a step towards justice, which still requires a lot of effort and work” the signatories said.
