According to the Sudanese police statement, the Riyadh Police Department, east of Khartoum, received a report that a girl had gone missing upon returning at night from her workplace.
According to the statement, the girl’s sister reported that the victim had not reached the house and was unreachable via phone, and that she sometimes suffers from a “loss of balance”.
“By searching and investigating, information was available to the police that there was a body of a woman, fully dressed, inside a waterway north of the Sayeda Sanhouri Mosque, ” the statement said.
The statement indicated that the body found east of Khartoum had her shoes, her bag with all its contents, and that her family had recognized her.
The statement then went to confirm that legal measures were taken and the body was transferred to the mortuary to determine the cause of death.
The incident led to angry reactions on social media about the recent deterioration of the security situation in the Sudanese capital.
Especially since this incident came hours after armed clashes south of the capital between a joint force led by the police and infiltrators belonging to armed movements.
The leaders of the military apparatus in Sudan justify their presence within the transitional government under the pretext of “preserving security,” at a time when activists believe that reality confirms the failure of their mission.
