UK ready to help Sudan with drinking water projects
The UK affirmed its readiness to provide support to Sudan in the field of drinking water, especially in conflict areas and the city of Port Sudan.

The Minister of Irrigation, Yassir Abbas, discussed with the Chargé d’Affairs of the British Embassy in Khartoum, Julianne Riley, on Monday, relations between the two countries, as well as the progress of the negotiations on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
The two sides also discussed, according to SUNA, areas in which the UK can provide support to the Ministry of Irrigation.
The minister reviewed the great challenges facing the drinking water sector in Sudan, and the need to provide solar energy pumps for small farms.
The Minister also discussed, with the British diplomacy, support in the field of training, qualification, and capacity building.
On the other hand, Abbas informed the British diplomat, that there was no progress in the negotiations after the last Security Council session last June.
For her part, the UK Chargé d’Affairs affirmed her country’s readiness to provide the necessary assistance to the transitional government in Sudan, the Ministry of Irrigation and to provide everything necessary in the field of drinking water, especially in conflict areas and the city of Port Sudan.
