Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary General, during a Wednesday press conference, said that military action was bound to take place on Ukrainian soil.

Guterres said that the conflict was going to cause Europe a suffering that it had not seen since the Balkan war.

The UN Sec. General said that it will be hard to predict the amount of people who will die, the amount of people who will be displaced, and the amount of people who will lose hope in the future.

Guterres also said that he could not make official comments regarding the sanctions that would befall Russia, but estimated that the consequences of Russia’s actions were going to be dire.

He called on Putin to put an end to what he claimed would be “the worst war of this century.”
