Ayin accuses coup authorities of shooting its photojournalist

The investigative journalism platform Ayin Network announced that one of its photographers was shot in demonstrations in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, on Monday.

Ayin Network said that its photojournalist was shot with multiple bullets, “one in the chest, two in the leg and the other in the foot.”

“He was subsequently transferred to the hospital for treatment, and his condition is now stable,” it stated.

The photographer was injured while covering demonstrations in the vicinity of the presidential palace in the center of the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.

“The coup authorities, since seizing power on the 25th of last October, have not stopped practicing excessive violence, and by various means, in the face of peaceful demonstrators who reject the military coup and advocate for a state of justice,” Ayin added.

The statement of stressed that, through monitoring the many parties interested in freedom of the press and media in the country, journalists working on covering demonstrations face systematic violence with direct attacks, harassment, and confiscation of journalistic tools such as cameras and others.
