Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan arrived at al-Fashaga amidst peak tensions with the Ethiopian side after the execution of Sudanese soldiers by an Ethiopian militia.
Khartoum: AlTaghyeer
Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, leader of the Sudanese Armed Forces, arrived at the border area of al-Fashaga earlier today following the executions of Sudanese soldiers held as POWs by an Ethiopian militia.
The authorities in Khartoum had revealed that 7 Sudanese army soldiers and one citizen were executed by an Ethiopian militia.
Al-Burhan promised a “practical response” to the executions, stating that “the response will be on the ground.”
The SAF commander appeared in full uniform issuing orders prohibiting any new trespassing or movements on the border area.
The Sudanese army had taken over al-Fashaga in late 2020 year after it was under the control of Ethiopian militia for decades.
