Khartoum: Altaghyeer, Sara Taj Alsir

The Judge of the Khartoum court steering the case of Brigadier (police) Mohammad Braima murder, decided to  adjourn session to February 19.

Three youth known largely by their nick names Tupac, Alnuna and Tirhaqa, were detained on January 2022 on charges of killing a senior police officer during a protest and were subsequently subjected to torture in detention.

Judge Tayeb Alasma Abdu Lateef, who chaired the court temporarily due to the absence of its original chairman Zuhair Babiker, made the decision because some parties of the case failed to show up at the session including the Prosecution, detective and some defendants.

Head of the Defence team Ms Eyman Hassan has sought an explanation for the absence of the judge whether he was on leave or tasked with something related to the trial. But Judge Abdul Lateef said he has no immediate answers.

Hassan said the slow court procedures is doing harm to the defendants.

Tupac mother said she was not happy with the judge behavour towards the relatives of the defendants, citing his advice to her to go with her tribe’s leaders to the family of the killed  policeman to seek pardon.

She said she turned down the advice because she believed her son and the others are not guilty of any murder.
