Outperforming 20 competitors, the Sudanese film ibra wa khait “Needle and Thread” has won the “Best Film” award in the Iraqi Gilgamesh International Film Festival.

Starring the veteran actress Fayiza Amasaib, the film was written, directed and produced by Sudanese film maker Nasser Yusuf.
The second edition of Gilgamesh International Film Festival was organized under the theme “Women, the Essence of life” in commemoration of the late Iraqi actor Faisal Al-Nasri.
The plot of the film handles the issue of child marriage and how it seriously affects the child’s physical and psychological health. The theme is interwoven around the message of “let girls play, let them live their childhood”.
In May 2022 “Needle and Thread” was selected for the entries of an international film festival in Palermo, Italy.
It also participated in the 7th edition of the Urusaro International Women Film Festival, Rwanda, October 2022.
