Al-Burhan: We have neither political aspirations nor ambitions to run for election

Sudan’s coup leader Abdul Fatah Al-Burhan continues to pretend that the military institutions have no intention of clinging to power or getting involved in politics.

President of the coup Sovereign Council cum Commander of the Sudanese Army Abdul Fatah Al-Burhan has reiterated his statements that his ruling group has no political aspirations or intention to be part of upcoming elections.

Addressing a group wedding ceremony at Al-Bisli region in northern Sudan’s River Nile State, Friday, Al-Burhan underlined that they sincerely side with the people and work to resolve challenges the people face.

According to the army spokesman Al-Burhan has reiterated his appeal to the politicians back in Khartoum to pay heed to the living conditions of the people and to avoid questions that which are of no interest for the ordinary people.

He further hailed the role of the native administration which he describes as the safety valve for the society.

He vowed to support the agricultural production in the region.

This was the second mass event he attended within two days. On Thursday he openly said they supported the Political Framework Agreement because it stipulated the integration of the Rapid Support Forces and armed movements troops within Sudan’s National Army.

The Framework Agreement was signed in December 2022 with the purpose of ending the coup and paving the way for reinstating a civilian led democratic rule.
