Militias accused of killing and injuring IDPs in Central Darfur

The Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Refugees Coordination has accused armed militias of murdering two IDPs and injuring six others in Central Darfur state.

The incident was one in a series of attacks that hit Darfur region recently despite signing of a peace agreement in Juba, the capital of South Sudan, in October 2020.

The Coordination’s official spokesman Adam Rijal said in statement Sunday that two persons were shot dead and six others were injured in an attack by militias Saturday while they were on their way to Momo agricultural area.

The attackers were two armed men driving a motorcycle.

Unrest have surfaced once again in Darfur region following exit of UNAMID forces.

The Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Refugees Coordination has recently accused militias of the coup government of committing a number of crimes including murder, inflicting injuries and involvement in rape crimes against IDPs in Darfur region.
