A Sudanese court admitted Monday that Military Intelligence and Police have committed breaches and made mistakes related to the investigation procedures in the case involving the murder of the intelligence sergeant. The court affirmed that there was evidence to nail the accused and ordered immediate release of the accused.
The intelligence was accusing 8 revolutionaries of killing intelligence sergeant Mirghani Aljaili in May 2021 during a protest near the Presidential Palace.
The judge, Jamal Subdarat, argued that the main accused in murder case was forced to give a testimony. He was kept in detention for a month, subjected to varied types of torture and forced to testify in a crime he was never near its scene.
The judge said witness Wajdi Alsayed was a source of information for the intelligence therefore his testimony is valueless.
A hysterical joy spread in the court room following the verdict, women ululations mixed with tears and chanting.
