The women Guardians Organization was established in December 2018 by a group of Sudanese activists with the aim of expanding women participation in the march for freedom, peace and justice. It has contributed in organizing  processions, protests and other creative activities. Their role during the renown sit-in at the outskirts of the army General Command headquarters spoke for itself.

Activities and events

The organization was guided by the principle that the values of freedom, peace and justice have to be earned through vigilant and courageous protection. Therefore they were known for their distinguished resilience and courage before the violent suppression of the protests.

After the brutal dispersal of the sit-in on the 3rd June 2019 they did their best to keep burning the ember of the revolution.

They helped in mitigating the psychological and physical impacts on  those who survived the ordeal.

Inside the sit-in area they had erected a tent in which they hosted those who were subjected to torture inside the deposed regime’s prisons to tell their stories and share their experience with the audience and to advocate for the reform of the security and military institutions.

They also showed movies that focus on human rights.

The Guardians also documented all violations committed against the revolutionaries.

When the first transitional government failed to implement the provisions of the agreements that stipulated women to get at least 40% quota in the Parliament and 50% quota at all government levels, the women Guardians organized a massive campaign to raise awareness about women rights in political participation.

 projects and programs

The organization also launched another project that makes use of the traditional women cofee gathering to enhance exchange of experiences and solve problems faced by female activists. The first session of the project managed to attract a whooping audience of five hundred women.

The women Guardians Organization also publishes a periodical that encourages women to read and enlighten them on daily challenges facing women and women experiences around the globe.

The Organization is planning to spread in all parts of the country. Now it has branches in Port Sudan, the Red Sea State, Medani, central Sudan, and Sinar, south east of the country.
