Al Hilal of Sudan requests the African Football Conferderation (CAF) to rule for playing its match with Al Ahli of Egypt either without supporters or with a limited number of seats for the fans.
Al Ahli will play Al Hilal in Cairo Stadium on Saturday April 1st within the sixth (last) round of the group stage of the African Champions League.
Al Hilal Secretary General Dr Hassan Ali Aesa sent CAF a letter pressing for the precondition.
The letter said “if supporters were allowed to attend the match at the full capacity of the stadium, then 5% of the seats should be sold to Al Hilal fans, as the rules stipulate”.
Hate speech and threats
The Sudanese club said it’s request was made because CAF did not answer it’s previous three letters and that an atmosphere of hatred and racism was created by Al Ahli club.
Al Hilal added that “CAF has ignored all letters sent by Al Hilal while at the same time responding to every request from Al Ahli”. It urged the African association be up to par with its heavy responsibility and work to correct the situation to prevent a repeat of the port Said catastrophe.
A massive riot broke at Port Said Stadium, Egypt, on February 2012 following an Egyptian Premier League football match between Masry and Ahly, the result of the mele was 79 deaths.
Al Hilal said it will keep on pressing CAF to respond otherwise it will take the issue, backed with relevant videos showing
hate speech, racist language and threats of physical and verbal assault, to the world football body (FIFA).
Al Hilal is 2nd of the group with 10 points while Al Ahli is 3rd with 7 points.
Al Ahli needs 1/0 win over Al Hilal to qualify for the next round of the championship which the club has won 10 times.
