Spokesman for the Political Process in Sudan, Khalid Omer, said the committee tasked with drafting the final agreement met on Tuesday with representatives of signatories to the Framework Agreement, the Armed Forces and Rapid Support Forces.
Omer said the meeting, held at the Presidential Palace, has received written notes from the civilian and military sides and included them in the draft of the final agreement. The committee will submit the draft to the political mechanism, Omer said. “So the draft of the final agreement is ready and that everybody is waiting for the Army and Rapid Support Forces committees to finish their tasks concerning the timetables for the process of reform, integration and development” he added.
He said when this step is finished, the Final Agreement will be ready for signing in the nearest possible time.
The agreement is hoped to pave the way for a new transitional government led by civilians.
