The Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that the Sudan representatives did not attend talks held by the IGAD’s quartet committee in Ethiopia despite arriving there on Monday.

Closed meetings took place on Monday morning in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa to discuss solutions for the war in Sudan.
The Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in statement that Sudan has sent a high level delegation to Addis Ababa for participation in the meetings by the Quartet Committee which was formed by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
“But, unfortunately, the delegation found out that the chair of the meeting was not changed though the Sudan had submitted a request to the IGAD leadership since the last Djibouti summit demanding that Kenya steps down as head of the meetings for a number of reasons including that the Kenyan president has shown bias in the current Sudan crisis” the Ministry said.
The status quo government of Sudan, headed by the Army Commander Abdul Fatah Al Burhan, considers Kenyan President William Ruto a trade partner with the commander of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo ‘Hemedti’. The government insists that it will not hold any dialogue or negotiation with the RSF save for ending the militia rebellion and merging its elements within the national army.
The Ministry said the government delegation was still in Addis Ababa waiting for a response from IGAD.
The meeting will be attended by Sudanese, regional and international sides, including the US Assistant Secretary of the state for African Affairs, to discuss ways for peaceful resolution for the war in Sudan, now in its third month, between the army and the RSF
