Emergency Lawyers: arrest of Tupac demonstration of Sudanese Police targeting defendants in Brig Braima killing
Emergency Lawyers condemned the “discriminative illegal” attitude of the Sudanese Police Force towards suspects in murdering of the Centeral Reserve officer Ali Braima.
Khartoum: Altaghyeer
The Sudanese Police Force continues to target in a disgraceful and flagrant manner those charged with the killing of the Centeral Reserve officer, Ali Braima, and specifically revolutionist Tupac who is waiting for the trial, said Emergency Lawyers in a statement Thursday.
The statement said Tupac was once arrested in Medani where he arrived when war broke in khartoum.
“Now Tupac was held by the Intelligence branch of Attbra, north Sudan, without knowledge of the Procecution and without a legal arrest warrant”, the Lawyers said.
The Police Force, as a body for enacting the law, should strictly follow the book, avoid discrimination, selective targeting and institutional vengeance
Tupac was released from prison along with thousands others during the early days of this war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces as the latter opened a number of prisons and allowed inmates to flee.
“Mohamed Adam Tupac and his fellows had publicly pledged to report back to authorities whenever the situation stablizes. The police leadership and all other legal bodies, focus on those revolutionaries but, do nothing to bring back the 21,000 inmates, including those who were sentenced to death and those indicted by ICC, who fled the prisons” the statement said.
Tupac and four youngmen who were active in the protests leading to ouster of dictator Omer Al Bashir were accused of involvement in the killing of the officer, January 2022.
The previous court sessions were largely in favor of the accused.
