Sudan: Burhan steps outside army headquarters, his first since eruption of war
The Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), General Abdul Fattah Al Burhan, toured several military sites in Khartoum, Omdurman and Bahri at dawn, Thursday, inspecting his troops in these locations.
Khartoum: Altaghyeer
For the first time since the outbreak of war between the SAF and RSF in mid-April, Sudanese army commander was seen touring areas away from the vicinity of the general headquarters of his forces and outside the Ministry of Defense.
Pictures and video clips published by the army on its official Facebook page this morning showed Al-Burhan, inspecting his troops in the Wadi Sayedna military area, north of Omdurman.
Al Burhan said the armed forces were fighting for the sake of Sudan, and not for any other side, group or persons.
Al-Burhan tour came one day after the Sudanese army announced having full control of the headquarters of the Armored Corps, one of the most important military bases in south Khartoum, after defeating violent attack by the RSF.
SAF posted various videos about Al-Burhan tour including a picture showing him seated with civilians.
The SAF official spokesperson, Brig General Nabil Abdullah, said in press statements that the army had taken full control of the Armored Corps camp.
The army media posted pictures showing troops south of Khartoum, after 3 days of battles.
The battles, which experts fear could continue for years, have left dead over 5,000 people, forced more than 4 million people to flee their homes for safety.
