Dozens of civilians killed in violent clashes between army and RSF in Khartoum
Dozens of civilians were killed today, Saturday, in violent clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the three cities of the Sudanese capital; Khartoum, Bahri and Omdurman.

Since Saturday morning, the three cities of the capital Khartoum have witnessed artillery shelling between the army and the RSF causing dozens of deaths and serious injuries among the civilians.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that random shelling between the two warring parties has hit Shambat area and neighborhoods north of Bahri, causing many casualties among the civilians.
Jabal Awliya area, south of Khartoum, was the most affected in today’s clashes where continuous bombardment and stray shells led to the death and injury of a large number of civilians, eyewitnesses said. Communication networks are cut off in the area, they added.
In Omdurman, the army targeted the RSF locations in the west and central areas of the city with heavy artillery shelling from the Karari military base north of Omdurman and the latter responded with intensive artillery shelling leading to the killing of more than 7 civilians in al-Thawra living quarters.
In a new development, photos and video clips circulating on social media platforms revealed that the RSF used new weapons for the first time including “rocket launchers” targeting the Wadi Sayedna military base north of Omdurman.
On Friday, al-Ailfoun suburb southeast of the Sudanese capital Khartoum, about 30 km from the center of Khartoum, witnessed a large wave of displacement following violent clashes between the army and the RSF who attacked the area in which the army have an Engineers Corps’ camp.
The ongoing war between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary RSF erupted ln mid-April 2023 leading to the death of more than 5,000 and displacement of more than 5 million inside and outside the country, according to the United Nations.
