Cholera vaccination campaign covers 99.1% in a Sudanese State
A Cholera vaccination campaign was carried out in the Gazira State from November 20-25 targeting 692,710 people in the age group 1+ year.

The Gazira State of central Sudan announced covering of 99.1% of the population targeted with oral cholera vaccine campaign in Wad Madani, capital of the State.
The vaccination campaign was carried out in Wad Madani al-Kobra (the main locality of the town) during November 20-25 targeting 692,710 people from one year old and above.
The campaign success was attributed to the wide coverage through 206 centres، 505 temporary centres and 76 mobile teams, the health authorities said.
Also, the campaign was successfull thanks to the extensive information campaign, coordination with relative bodies and training of religious and community leaders, the authorities added.
The UNICEF’s national expert al-Rasheed Mohamed assured the success of the anti cholera vaccination expecting decrease in the disease infection rate.
He said the campaign will start in other localities of the Gazira State in the coming days.
The Wad Madani al-Kobra locality was targetted with the campaign first because it was the most infected area with cholera.
