Khartoum: Altaghyeer
Member of the coup Sovereign Council cum Assistant of the Sudanese army chief, General Yasir al-Atta, slammed the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Chad openly for the first time accusing both countries of backing the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in its war with the army.
He has also slammed the Russian Wagner Group which reportedly supports the RSF.
Al-Atta made the statements on Tuesday in an address to the SAF troops in Wadi Sayedna military base north of Omdurman town after he had camped in the premises of the Engineers Corps in north Omdurman since eruption of war between the Sudanese army and RSF in mid-April.
He said intelligence and diplomatic information revealed that the UAE has sent military supply flights to the RSF via airports in Uganda, Central Africa and Chad before the dismantling of Wagner. “The UAE is continually backing the RSF”, he added.
International organisations and agencies have previously accused the UAE of arming the RSF but it is the first time the Sudanese army did so.
Al-Atta emphasized that the Sudanese State will not collapse and the army command has developed plans to realize all its goals.
The army has absorbed the first shock and succeeded in liberating two thirds of Omdurman town preparing for the liberation of Khartoum, al-Atta said.
