Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, revealed that his country and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are agreed on the need to conclude a ceasefire accord in Sudan.

Shoukry made the statement on Sunday at a press conference he held with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan.

He also underlined that freedom of shipping and trade is binding international rights and principles.

Within the same context of efforts for ending the war in Sudan, a meeting was held between the Sudanese army deputy chief General Shums Eddeen al-Kabashi and deputy commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Abdel Rahim Dagalo in the Bahraini capital Manama.

A substantial progress has been achieved in the latest secret meeting between the two officials, informed sources told Altaghyeer.

Kabashi and Dagalo meeting was facilitated by a number of countries including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and United States, according to the sources.

The meeting agreed that the RSF should not proceed to Sinnar town, neighbouring Wad Madani city which was controlled by the paramilitary last month, in consideration of Egyptian fears the attack may harm Sinnar Dam on the Blue Nile, the sources revealed.

Kabashi-Dagalo meeting is expected to pave the way for a direct meeting between leaders of the two warring parties, the Sudanese army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo “Hemedti”.
