Sudan’s Rapid Support accused of committing new crimes in Gezira State

Activists have accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of killing many civilians, looting private properties and comitting many other violations in the Gezira State of centeral Sudan which was siezed by the paramilitary last December.

The youth voluntary organisations, Resistance Committees, said the RSF has stormed Wadi al-Shaeer village and other villages in al-Gezira State of centeral Sudan during which it had committed several violations against the residents.

The RSF captured Wad Madani, capital of the Gezira State, on mid December 2023 and then attacked many of its towns and villages reaching borders of Sinnar State.

Wad Madani’s Resistance Committees said in a statement on Sunday that the RSF attacked Wadi al-Shaeer village many times starting with early December during which it killed a prominent person, injured score of people, looted cars and other private properties, threatened and intimidated the citizens.

Meanwhile, al-Hasaheesa Resistance Committees said the RSF has stormed a number of areas including Fadasi al-Halaimab town and some villages causing the death of four people and injuring others when it shot at the people during the funeral.

The RSF has looted the whole properties of the citizens including cars, gold and money, the youth group said, adding that the attacks led to wide displacement of elders, women and children.

Both the RSF and Sudanese Armed Forces have been accused by the United Nations and some other countries and organisations of committing abuses that may amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity.
