At least 43 civilians were killed and dozens injured in attacks carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in al-Gezira State of centeral Sudan during the current holy month of Ramadan, said the Resistance Committees in Wad Madani, capital of the State.

The Committees said in a statement on Tuesday the RSF attacks left dozens of martyrs and wounded and exposed thousands of families to the danger of hunger after looting food stocks, cutting off supply routes and destroying markets.

The statement said the RSF is waging successive waves of widespread violence in all localities of the state oppressing, terrorizing and impoverishing the defenseless citizens.

Some 28 villages had been attacked by the RSF since the beginning of Ramadan in March 11 where it committed “violations, war crimes and murdering of civilians including children”, the Resistance Committees said.

The RSF siezed al-Gezira State in December after withdrawal of the rival Sudanese army’s garrison.

The paramilitary announced on Monday establishment of a civil administration consists of 31 members.
