Health conditions deteriorate in Central Darfur displacement camps

Deteroration of health conditions and lack of health care have led to spread of malaria, diarrhea and urinary inflamation as well as increase of death cases in Centeral Darfur camps.

Displaced People Coordination warned that health and environmental conditions in Centeral Darfur camps are sharply deteriorating along with scarcity of water and life-saving medicines.

The Coordination spokesperson Adam Rijal said deteroration of health conditions and lack of health care have led to spread of malaria, diarrhea and urinary inflamation as well as increase of death cases among all categories of the community.

Rijal called on the World Health Organization, Doctors without Borders and all humanitarian and health organizations to urgently investigate and address the situation in the camps.

He said the displaced people who fled the areas west of al-Fasher are living in catastrophic conditions in Shagra, al-Behair and Omhajaleej camps and they are in dire need for drinking water and medicines.

Senior United Nations officials warned on Friday that nearly 800,000 people in al-Fasher are in danger of spread of violence that threatens of bloody tribal conflict in all parts of Darfur.
