Khartoum: Altaghyeer
The Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced on Thursday that it achieved a huge victory over the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in al-Fao area of al-Gadarif State, eastern Sudan, a day after it has announced that it crushed SAF troops in North Kordofan State.
A military source has admitted in a statement to Altaghyeer that SAF has suffered losses in Kordofan battles.
The RSF’s spokesman, al-Fatih Gorashi, said their forces have repulsed an attack by “al-Burhan’s remnants of the deposed Islamist regime, terrorist battalions and mercenary armed movements” which tried to advance into areas under the RSF’s control through al-Fao axis, Gadarif State,
Since April, the SAF is trying to recapture Wad Madani, the capital of al-Gezira State which was siezed by the RSF on December, advancing through three main axes: al-Fao from the east, al-Managil from the west and Sinnar from the south.
The RSF’s spokesman said dozens of the SAF troops were killed and injured in al-Fao battle while hundreds others escaped.
The RSF affirmed on Wednesday that its forces crushed SAF infantry units in main area of North Kordofan.
SAF has not issued official statement on the issue but a military source confirmed to Altaghyeer that SAF troops were ambushed in Jebel Kordofan area near the highway that connects al-Obied, North Kordofan’s capital, to capital of the White Nile State, Kosti.
The source, however, said the death toll is not in hundreds as the RSF claimed. A few dozen only were killed while the rest have arrived safely, he added.
