600 Sudanese from 30 countries attend Tagadom founding conference

The founding conference of the Civil Democratic Forces Alliance ‘Tagadom’ will be held in Skylight hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on 26 May 2024.

The founding conference of the Civil Democratic Forces Alliance ‘Tagadom’ will be held in Skylight hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on 26 May 2024, announced member of the founding conference’s preparatory committee Khalid Omer Yousif.

Yousif explained that more than 600 Sudanese participants from 30 countries will attend the conference.

The participants represent various sectors of the society including creative people, intellectuals, native administration, sufi sects, farmers, pastrolists, businessmen, people with disabilities and retired militaries.

Yousif revealed that the Unionists Party (led by al-Mirghani), Sudan’s People Liberation Movement/North (led by al-Hilu ) and the Popular Congress Party of late al-Turabi will attend the conference as observers.

Tagadom membership increased

Member of the conference preparatory committee explained that the Resistance Committees, the backbone of the December 2018 Revolution that toppled Omer al-Bashir’s autocratic regime, in all 18 Sudan’s States have named their representatives in Tagadom conference though only six committees representing Khartoum State have participated in the conference’s preparatory meeting.

Tagadom also received 44 membership applications, mostly civil forces, of which 40 were accepted.

The conference agenda

Tagadom founding conference will discuss several issues including humanitarian situation, political vision for ending the war and the organizational visualization.

The closing session on 30 May will be attended by representatives from the regional and international societies.
