Tagadom concludes founding conference, Hamdok elected chairman

Coordination-body of the Sudanese Civil Democratic Forces (Tagadom) concluded its founding conference on Thursday describing the dialogue between the conferees as characterized by seriousness, frankness and boldness in a truly democratic atmosphere.

Coordination-body of the Sudanese Civil Democratic Forces (Tagadom) concluded its four-day founding conference in Addis Ababa on Thursday and issued its final communique.

The conference was attended by more than 600 representatives of all sectors of the society.

The final communique emphasized that the most urgent priority now is an immediate and unconditional ending of the war condemning failure of the warring parties, the Sudanese Armed Forces and Rapid Support Forces, to sit for a ceasefire negotiation.

The conference appealed to the international community to intervene and pressure the warring parties to resume negotiations, form mechanisms for protection of civilians and ensure humanitarian access.

The conference also condemned the horrible violations committed by both warring sides and their allied militias calling for international investigation and holding perpetrators accountable.

It has also approved the Coordination’s articles of association and organizational structure, established the necessary controls for representation and decision-making processes and decided to allocate each of women and youth a representation quota of 40%.

The conference has elected Tagadom’s new leadership board. The latter re-elected the Sudan’s former Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok as chairman.

The final communique described the dialogue between the conferees as characterized by seriousness, frankness and boldness in a truly democratic atmosphere that yielded great consensus over the conference’s visions and decisions.

The conference also approved a political vision for ending the war, establishing the state and completing the Revolution. Immediate preparations for a round-table in this concern was decided.

The communique welcomed the Saudi-American initiative for stopping war in Sudan through Jeddah Talks forum, the African Union and IGAD initiatives, Egypt and neighboring countries efforts to end war.

The conference laid out scientific basis for building a unified professional national army, accountability and governance systems.
