Sudan: life-saving medicines airdropped into al-Fashir
Delivering medicine supplies to North Darfur from the air is one of the distribution methods adopted recently within the strategy of the National Fund for Medical Supplies, according to the Sudan’s Federal Ministry for Health.

The Sudanese health authorities announced that 20 tons of life-saving medicines were airdropped into al-Fashir, capital of North Darfur State, on Monday in collaboration with the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the State’s government.
Since 10 May, al-Fashir is witnessing fierce clashes between the SAF supported by the Darfur Protection Force, which is composed of Darfur Armed Struggle Movements, and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Despite international warning, the fighting continues in the city which is a major supply hub for the other parts of Darfur.
The medicines supplies include intravenous solutions, life-saving and anesthesia medications and medical consumables.

Preparation is under way to deliver another 30 tons of medicines and consumables, he revealed.
The ongoing war between SAF and RSF erupted in 15 April 2023 in the Sudan’s capital Khartoum and then spread to other parts of the country inluding Darfur and al-Gezira State killing over 15,000 civilians and left over 8,000 displaced and refugees.
