Hundreds of Sudanese police officers held by RSF freed
The Sudan’s RSF freed on Saturday 537 Sudanese police officers it had formerly arrested in their homes and taken to detention houses.

The Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) released on Saturday 537 police officers and men it had formerly arrested in their homes and taken to detention houses.
A video clip showed a group of police officers in Abu Groon religious compound of Sharg al-Neel (East Nile) area, Khartoum State, among a crowd celebrating their release.
Police officers who were captured from the battlefields are not included in those who were released, media sources said.
The freed policemen were brought to Abu Groon from detention houses and will be transported to their home states, the sources added.
Since eruption of war between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and RSF in April 2023, the latter held thousands of SAF and police officers, mostly arrested during the first two days of the war, addition to captives of followed battles.
The event was not officially announced by the RSF. Also, the SAF and Ministry of Interior did not issue statements on this regard.
