Khartoum: Altaghyeer
The American Administration renewed pledges to stand with the Sudanese people in their quest to restore democracy and civil rule.
“We stand with the Sudanese people in their unwavering demand for an inclusive, civilian-led democracy,” said the US Special Envoy to Sudan, Tom Perriello.
He wrote on X “on the International Day of Democracy, we celebrate the Sudanese people who have inspired the world by rising up to reject an oppressive regime and demand control of their future” in reference to the ouster of dictator Omer al-Bashir in a popular revolution in April 2019.
“Those waging this war dishonor that dream and that courage” Perriello said denouncing continuation of war between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.
The United States seeks to pressure the warring parties to cease hostilities and return to the negotiations
