Sudan: gold refinery with 200 kgs-daily capacity to open in Atabra

The refinery, which will be established within six months, have a production capacity of more than 200 kgs daily.

A contract for establishing a gold refinery in Atabra city was signed on Monday at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Urban Development, Nahr al-Neel State.

The refinery will produce more than 200 kgs a day as a first stage with the prospect of increasing its production in the next year.

It will be built within a period of six months.

Nahr al-Neel State is one of the most important minerals production areas in Sudan.

The State hosts many gold production investments including traditional and modern gold mining.

By 2022 Sudan became Africa’s third leading gold producer after South Africa and Ghana. The Central Bank of Sudan reported that the country exported 25.2 tons of gold in 2020, and 26.4 tons during the first nine months of 2021.
