Violent fighting rages in Khartoum between army and RSF

Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) troops have crossed al-Fitaihab Bridge on the White Nile from Omdurman into Khartoum town while the SAF Airforce has been striking positions of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the city since early morning, today, eyewitnesses said.

Sudan’s capital Khartoum currently witnesses violent battles between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the centeral, northern and southern parts of the city.

According to al-Hadath channel the battles started on Thursday at 02:00 am in the confluence of the White Nile and Blue Nile area, the army General Command and Armoured Corps in Khartoum besides the Signals Corps in Bahri.

Loud explosions and  reverberations of heavy weapons were heard from all theses sites at the same time.

Meanwhile, eyewitnesses said SAF troops have crossed al-Fitaihab Bridge on the White Nile from Omdurman into Khartoum same day while the SAF Airforce has been targeting positions of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the city.

On its part, RSF media platforms said its forces have crushed a SAF force which  has crossed al-Fitaihab Bridge in its way to Khartoum.

The battles are unprecedented escalation in Khartoum State which has been witnessing relative calm for months except for sporadic battles in some parts of Bahri and Om­dur­man.
