At least seven civilians were killed in North Kordofan, central west Sudan, in the last few days as Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and armed groups clashed in the area, a source told Altaghyeer.
On Sunday, the RSF attacked a market, north east of Omrwaba town, the second most important town in this State, killing one person and injuring another.
On Tuesday, armed men on four motorbikes attacked Amoora village in the same area but residents expelled them killing two attackers.
A SAF force arrived at the village the next day but the residents clashed with it suspecting it was affiliated to RSF. Four persons were killed; two from each side.
The RSF attacked Hassan Rabih village same day, killing four people.
The situation in the area is still tense particularly after arrival of a new SAF force to a nearby village, the source said.
Since eruption of fighting between the SAF and RSF in April 2023 most of the villages in North kordofan turned into battlefield.
Omrwaba town and its surroundings have witnessed for months fierce fighting between SAF and RSF and the latter managed to sieze the town on September 2023.
