Khartoum: Altaghyeer
Chairman of the coup Sovereign Council in Sudan, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, announced willingness to engage in any initiative that is genuinely aimed at ending the war in his country.
Al-Burhan told a press conference in New York his government will accept any such initiative if it contains no preconditions and no interference from the party proposing the initiative.
“We are ready to participate in any initiative that aims at realising peace and ending the war and helps in the return of the people to their homes in accordance with the previously signed agreements.”
He said the past initiatives “failed to take into account the national vision and they were not Sudanese-owned a matter that contributed to their failure. They also did not consider the Sudanese conditions that may lead to a solution and an end to the series of wars and military coups in the country.”
Meanwhile, al-Burhan revealed that Khartoum has informed the United States that it will not accept mediation from regional or international power involved in killing of the Sudanese.
He told al-Jazeera channel that they will continue engaging with the Americans and if they are genuine in supporting peace in Sudan, they should back the national solutions.
Al-Burhan delivered the Sudan statement before the United Nations General Assembly’s 79th session in New York on Thursday. He accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of committing war crimes and genocide indicating that some regional countries are funding the RSF and supplying it with weapons and mercenaries.
