Kampala, Altaghyeer: Abdallah Berair
Sudanese singers have announced the launching of a project (The Voice of Sudan from the World) to support victims and war-affected civilians in their country.
The idea kick-started in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, by the Ethiopian Ministry of Culture and Information, and the well-known Sudanese singer, currently residing there, al-Wathiq al-Amin.
The project is wrapped around the idea of bringing together voices of Sudanese singers and musicians all over the world to release a single with the participation of international performers and musicians.
The program includes an international musical tour that covers Africa, Europe and the USA. The proceeds of these concerts go primarily to all those people affected and to the victims of the war in Sudan. A portion of the earnings will be allocated to partly cover basic expenses of singers, musicians, performers and technical aspects related to the tour.
The partnership in the project includes Sudanese music and singing band in the United States (SAMANA). The artistic delegation includes a huge number of Sudanese musicians and singers scattered around the world, namely Sudan, Ethiopia, EU, Canada, USA and the Arab world.
The project is pillared on two basic ideas: first create a huge lyrical single similar to “We Are the World” single in which great artistic bands and a group of selected singers are to take part. And second, there will be a global artistic tour.
Partners comprise the African Union, the Arab League, the relevant United Nations offices, the Ethiopian Ministry of Culture and Information, the Samana Band in the United States of America, the Sudanese community in Addis Ababa, and the activist-cum-artist al-Wathiq al-Amin.
