Sudanese paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) attacked on Saturday a number of villages north of Kutum town, North Darfur State, killing at least 12 civilians, said Coordination of Resistance Committees in al-Fashir.
The RSF violent artillery shelling has also led to injury of five people, the Coordination said, adding that three people including a doctor were abducted by the attackers.
Governor of Darfur Region, Arko Mini Minawe, denounced the RSF attacks on the villages saying “the militias terrorist crimes against those unarmed villagers are racially motivated. These are brutal crimes tantamount to those committed by the militia in Wad Noora and al-Seraiha” in al-Gezira State.
The RSF also renewed shelling on the residential areas and the al-Saudi hospital, the only operating health facility in al-Fashir, capital of North Darfur, on Saturday evening killing three co-patients and injuring others.
Since May, fierce fighting has been raging in North Darfur between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) supported by its allied forces and the RSF causing the death of hundreds and displacement of thousands.
The RSF besieged the city in a bid to control the only provincial capital, out of five, in Darfur Region still under the SAF control.
