The death toll in al-Hilalia town of al-Gezira State has reached 463 fatalities up to Wednesday as the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) continued its thirty days of unabated retaliatory campaign in the area.
Since the defection of its top leader in al-Gezira, Abu Aagla Kaikl, RSF has launched horrific attacks against at least 77 villages and towns in the area, killing 1,237 and forcing residents of 400 out of the total 515 villages to flee their homes, according to latest statistics by al-Gezira Congress.
The al-Gezira Congress platform revealed that the RSF continued committing heinous abuses against civilians including abduction of youths and demanding a ransom of 6 million pounds for the release of each individual. “Some families paid the ransoms but still their loved ones have not been set free”, said the platform.
The RSF also set many private homes on fire exercerbating an already bad humanitarian situation, the Congress said.
The Centeral Call Platform in al-Gezira State said the death toll in al-Hilalia town is increasing by the hour where some families have lost their entire members.
People have been living in degrading conditions amid starvation, thirst, beating, epidemics, and kidnapping.
The Centeral Call Platform reiterated call for urgent intervention to stop the unjustified siege imposed by the RSF gangs on al-Hilalia and other villages “despite continued calls for lifting this siege no body or organisation has so far stepped in to save lives of the besieged people, a behaviour tantamounting to deliberate disregard and contradicting all human values”, the Call argued.
