The Sudanese SEEMA Center for protection of Women and Child Rights submitted on Friday an urgent memo to the British authorities demanding immediate legal action against a Sudanese national convicted in child rape crimes who was identified while  participating in a protest against leaders of Sudan’s Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces, ‘Tagadom’, in London.

According to the memo, Zahir Hassan Bakhiet, who was convicted with a child rape crime in 15 November 2022, has appeared recently in videos showing he was living in the United Kingdom after he fled a prison in Omdurman taking advantage of the opening of prisons when the April 2023 war erupted.

SEEMA Center urged the British authorities to take an urgent measure for the protection of children and ensuring accountability. Ending of war and peace restoration are fundamental for protection of children and halting abuses against them, the center affirmed.

Pro-war activists organized a protest early this month  against leaders of Sudan’s Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces ‘Tagadom’ who were visiting London for meeting officials and holding public  discussions on how to end the war.
