Joint Force of Darfur’s Armed Struggle Movements announced that it has foiled an operation for delivering deadly weapons to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) near Nyala, South Darfur capital, on Sunday 3:a.m.
The Joint Force siezed 3 drones (unmanned airborne device) capable of carrying 4 air-ground missiles and 6 drones capable of carrying 2 air-ground missiles, the Force said in a statement.
More than 30 RSF’s fighters have been killed and 8 military vehicles destroyed in the operation, the Joint Force added.
The siezed weapons include drones made in the Czech Republic, the statement said, stating that the weapons shipment was funded by the United Arab Emirates and sneaked to Sudan in coordination with Chadian government.
The RSF controlled four of Darfur’s five states, to the exception of North Darfur which is defended by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) supported by the Joint Force.
The capital, al-Fashir, is the most important city of Darfur Region therefore the RSF increased pressure on the city since May causing the death of dozens of civilians and displacement of thousands.
